Cute neph.

Monday, December 01, 2008

Sigh.

I learned this about myself Thanksgiving week: I'm not meant to work at all. I'm meant to sit and eat. All day. I've accepted it.

Speaking of not working, New Second Job has been terminated (on my terms) due to events that transpired at First Job. It's a good thing. Well, it will be. Hopefully.

My neph is such a little hottie! I've been photoshopping like crazy so I'll post some of that tomorrow.

I'm crushing on this song: "Treason" by Kalai. And I've rediscovered my love for Brand New.

Did anyone go Black Friday shopping? I was up with Dev and my bro (thanks for ditching Ky-ha) at the dark hour of 4:30. Devin dropped me off at a violent looking Shopko but I ran into my high school tennis coach towards the end of the line so that was a good time. The boys were in line at Staples while I braved the crazy ladies at Shopko alone. We ended up getting some awesome stuff (mostly for ourselves. Crap.)! So we shopped until after eight, I took a fifteen minute nap and then went to work for some hours. Ga.

We got The Office trivia board game for my brother's birthday on Saturday and we played it Sunday. It's hard! I thought I was pretty well-versed but I have a lot to [re]learn. (Chelsea, is this the one you guys have?) But guess who still won...despite Devin and Brody's best attempts to sabotage... this girl.

Dev's grandpa also turned 100 on Saturday. 100! There was a very fun birthday party and I had fun hanging out with his family, especially those who don't live here and I don't get to see as much.

This morning I got pulled over about 1/2 block away from my house for frosty windows. Granted, the officer didn't actually say frosty windows, but that's what it was. And I got a ticket! (I did scrape them. But not to his liking.) The cherry on top was when I was signing the thing and water drops kept falling on to it from the window and the cop was all, "oh, it's getting all wet." And in my head I'm like, "YEAH. BECAUSE THE FREAKING SUN IS OUT. AND I KNEW IT WOULD TAKE APPROXIMATELY THIRTY SECONDS FOR MY BARELY FROZEN WINDOWS TO DEFROST, SO I SKIMPED A LITTLE ON MY SCRAPING." Like I wouldn't scrape that good on a really snowy cloudy day? Come on, man. Give me a little credit. Once again, I was without my proof of insurance and registration and license. I should really clean my car.

It was a fun holiday week!

(I'm deleting the post from before because the auto-music is driving me crazy, and probably a few of you, too.)
I've come down with a cold. No good.
I can't stop spilling large drinks on people (usually seniors) at New Job.

It's taken awhile, but I've finally succumbed to my phone's tendency to use the word freakhog instead of freaking. It's also made it into my everyday vocabulary. Despite the fact that...

I also attended a military ball with my friend Sean.

My New Little Buddy (who is yet to be named)

Here he is! And he's perfect. (he scratched his face last night... I guess I'd be a little tripped out, too.) This picture is from today, so he's about... sixteen hours old here.

He was born last night at 7:49 and weight 8.4 pounds... approximately 2 pounds greater than what I guessed. My poor sister was pushing for 3 hours, and the doctor seemed pretty much convinced that she'd need a C-Section, which, after 2 1/2 hours, felt like somewhat of a defeat. (8.4 pounds! She's a small girl, and as the Dr. so graciously put it, "it's just a real tight fit.") But she decided she would try pushing a little longer, and then he started to come. It was so exciting, I've never seen anything like it. And JD was so awesome and knew just what to say to Brittney. I'm so proud of the new parents.
I'll try to figure out how to do one of those cute slideshow things and post that a little later.

In the process of making room on my camera for...

...my sister's baby! yes, she is having it hopefully today! As a result, I am posting some of the pictures I haven't yet.

From our Office Season 5 Premiere Party.
Fall is pretty. My camera quality, not so much.

Devin asleep on our way home from Body Worlds 3. (He gets me back for this, as shown at the end of this post.)

He loves getting his picture taken, mmkay.

Varsi y Con. (it took a couple of years, but we finally got them into The Office. And let me tell you, they burned through every episode in like, two weeks.)

Brody y Kylee.

And I found this little gem, also on our way home from Body Worlds: Devin really was making me mad. I can't remember why though... I think because I was fetching tired and no one would leave me alone to sleep. And then before it ends you can see Brody about to bring up the most embarrassing picture ever.

A little update...

Hello all! I have been negligent in my blogging, but know that I have been keeping tabs on everyone. Here is my October, in a nutshell:

-I got pulled over. Again. At like 2:30am for a broken tail light and not having my headlights on for a few blocks. (Oops. I'd just left 7-11, and crimeney, it's so bright at those I didn't even realize.) And seriously, every time I have gotten pulled over in the past (there have been several), I've just kept my cool, been myself, and tried to reason with the officer. And every time (again, several), I've gotten a ticket in return. So this time, I totally did the girl thing I've always been judgmental of and cried and faked a severe stomach ache and cried more because I didn't have my registration or proof of insurance with me, and I was "so so sorry" and "stressed out" and "really so sorry, officer". And guess what? I just got a fix it ticket and a "Are you sure this isn't something you should see a doctor about?". CRYING WORKS.

-I got a second job. Doing customer service/sales at an online furniture company.

-I promptly quit second job. It sucked.

-I got another second job at Ruby Tuesday as a server. I'm so not great at it, but it's fine. The people there are pretty cool and although the server who was shadowing gave me this criticism: "You're a little too casual with people," I remain hopeful. And since I'm not way in love with the food there, it can't really get ruined for me. Not that Cafe Sabor was dying to hire me, anyway.

-Dev had (has) a kidney stone. We spent most of Saturday at the ER. And I felt like the all-time worst girlfriend when I had to leave him that night to go play waitress.

-Still waiting for my sis to have her baby. Me and Ky and my mom threw a shower for her.

-Fell in love with the new Keane album. Listen to "Spiralling" and "Lovers are Losing". Brilliant. And very 80's.

-School. School. School.

That sums most of it up for now. I still don't have internet at my place but hopefully soon...

and this:

The Latest Job Interview

So, for the past couple of weeks I have been on a somewhat unfruitful search for an evening job. You know, just to get a few extra hours a week. This is one of places I applied to, for a customer service job. So I sent my resume to the guy and got an email back a couple of days later about when I could come in. And he was, like, really short about it! No punctuation or anything. But still, no big. Anyway, my "interview" took place yesterday at 4:30 until 4:34. This is how it went down:

I was driving around trying to find it until amongst some giant factory-like buildings I saw a sad little sign. So I started to go into what I thought would be the office and then realized it was a bathroom. I spotted such a sad trailer, with a sign that read "Office". I was pretty much ready to just leave at this point.

I went up the stairs and knocked on the door until I realized that this was an alleged office and not someone's home. So I opened the door the same time this tiny woman did and walked into a tiny space fitting four people. I stayed at the door and told her who I was looking for.

"Can I tell him who's here?"

"Uh, yeah. Bergendi. Hatch. Job. Interview."

"Hey! Bergendi Hatch here, for her job interview."

Mind you, I could see the person I now realized was my interviewer. Not only could I see him, I could easily throw something at him. Probably the tiny woman. I wanted to say, "he just heard me tell you who I am. I'm closer to him than you are." But I played along.

So the interview began as they usually do. "What is your job experience, blah blah blah", and I told him, and when he found out about my designer background he started to get really excited and into the interview.

"Can you do stuff like this?" [pointing]

"Yes."

"Wow! That's really really great."

He went on to tell me about how their company will be launching new sites in the next year and they'd love to have a blah blah balh bakdfadoafudlifjasd. I'm boring myself, now.

Anyway, it ended abruptly when we started talking about pay. Like, I got the impression he wanted me to do this for the same pay as the customer service job. I don't want to sound whatever, but designing is hard. And intensive. And exhausting. It's not like I asked for a ton, I didn't even say a number. I just said it would need to be more than the customer service job. He'd said he'd talk to "Dennis." I emailed him after to say thanks for the interview, I'll send you some samples, and when will you be deciding? (And will I be working in the *&%$ trailer?! I didn't ask that one.) He wrote back immediately saying, "I'd love to see some samples!" He didn't answer my question. Okay then.

So, we'll see.

{we  had a pseudo-The Office Premier Launch Party, I'll post pictures from it asap.}

I just discovered Wordle.

You can do it with your random words from your blog, or enter in your own words. I did the former, then some fonts. Fun!

"i had that dream again where I was lost for good in outer space..."

I feel boring today.

Jack's Mannequin has two new(ish) EP's out...? Was anyone aware of this? They're good.

I just finished another wedding announcement. I haven't sent it to the printer yet. Opinions?

I'm still here.

And I've been sick. Not since my last post or anything, just since today. But Dev has taken good care of me (all the Toaster Struedel, Fruit Smiles, and Office reruns a girl could ask for). School's busy. Work's busy. New ward is chuck full of the one ex I would be fine with never seeing ever ever ever ever. More on that one, later.

I just saw this post of my nephew Sal. Nice one, guys.

Wednesday, September 03, 2008

This post is full of videos and links. My bad.

I accidentally-on-purpose took Devin's iPod hostage and took the liberty of giving it some new things - like a fun aunt or something - such as a dance compilation including this song (which I heart quite a lot) among others. Unfortunately, due to weird technical difficulties (I shorted out his whole freaking dashboard the other day when I attempted to car-charge my battery. Oops.), he will be unable to enjoy said compilation to it's full extent for a little while. I also renamed it.

Speaking of Things I Added To Devin's iPod Today, I also put about 20 episodes of the Rhett&Link podcast on there. (Yes Jenny, did you know they're still going strong? They're sponsored now, too.) They're freaking funny, and if you haven't subscribed, it's time to. Like, they do all the filmwork, songwriting, and editing themselves and it's totally brilliant-ish.

Secondly.

I have several problems with this upcoming motion picture.

First, Richard Gere and Diane Lane? Again? I kept wanting their hotter, slightly younger selves from Unfaithful. But instead they give us the way-too-grown-up version of The Notebook, which of course still reeks of Nicholas Sparks, and why shouldn't it?-it's based on another of his novels. I really like R.G., I still think he's got it going on, but basically I'll probably be okay if I never see these two make out again.

Since when is James Franco taller than R.G.? Did they prop him up on a stack of dictionaries?

And, "Dear Diane Lane: You can play the Divorced White Jaded Flustered Still-Looking-For-True-Love Female. We get it. You've done it so many times." I realized I was way over her Must Love Dogs. She looks great, but come on. She's just not doing it for me anymore.

I will say that I fell in love with the Gavin Rossdale song on it. Upon watching the full trailer, the movie looks actually looks slightly more appealing. Also, Ann Veal from Arrested Development is in it. ("Her?")

Arrested Development.

Wow. This show is just so wonderful.

These clips might be a little more meaningful if you've seen the show.

Yes, Michael Ballam. Please give me a 23 page syllabus. And include this little number in it:

Oh, you already have? Great.

These have come as a surprise to me.

The DMV.

This morning I went on out to the DMV to renew my license. I must say, it's nice to have proof of it again. My other one has remained lost for I daresay one year. Which I didn't mind, because I looked like a pirate in that picture.

Guy Who Helped Me: "Have you previously had a Utah driver's license?"

Me: "Yes."

-pause-

Me: "But I don't have it."

Guy: "You don't?"

Me: "I don't."

-pause-

Me: "It's gone. It's definitely gone."

* * *

Guy: "Okay, we'll need to conduct an eye test," (motions to small binocular-esque contraption at the desk) "so go ahead and put your forehead up against the white rectangle and look in."

Guy: "Go ahead and read line 'H' all the way across."

Me: "G,H,M,D. K,L,N,O." (or something.)

Guy: "Okay... you skipped a section. The first one."

Me: "...seriously?"

Guy: "Yeah."

Me: "There are letters there?!"

Guy: "Uh, yeah. Can you not see them?"

Me: "Oh. Right! No, yeah. Hah. Um. J. R. Uh. D. Z." (I saw no letters in the alleged first section. And needless to say, my left eye did not pass.)

* * *

Guy: "Okay, have a seat and we'll take your picture."

Me: "Okay."

Guy: "Ah! You'd better get up!"

Slightly alarmed, I did. And there was a huge spider descending to where I was.

Guy: "Gah! Hang on."

-moments later-

Guy: "Come on little guy. Come down a little more. No? Are we going to have to do this the hard way?"

Then, dude pulled out a rubber band, took a step, pulled it back, and shot the thing. First try, too.

Me: "Oh!"

* * *

So, yeah, I have a license again.

go devin

Moments ago, as I was eating frozen grapes and perusing the internet, Devin called me from SLC (he was at a Tantric concert) and told me to turn on channel 2 news. And there he was! Jumping around in the background. Yay!

Lake Powell and some birthday fun.

Last week was spent at the beautiful Lake Powell with Devin's family. It was a good time! They are all really funny and awesome. LP is definitely one of my favorite places on earth, and I was a little sad to go. At least I left with a souvenir: m&m's and fruit snacks lining my Fresca-eroded arteries.

The pictures are about to get out of hand...

This picture doesn't do justice.

Devin and Brandon. Enough said.
We hang out sometimes.
Devin's secret life as a Baywatch lifegaurd manifested itself while we were getting gas.
Devin and his new friend StateFarm® woke me up from a nap.

Breaking Dawn: This pretty much sums up all things literary on the trip.
In time out at some indian ruins.
This is about a half-point at said indian ruins. The hike wasn't too strenuous, but coming down was a different story.

And yesterday I turned 21! I spent part of the day with my girls and nighttime with Devo. It was a great day!

I'm the worst traveler.

!Voy a la Lake Powell hoy con la familia de Devin! Why haven't I packed yet?

I rediscovered my love for this video:

I feel so Lost.

I have reached a new, first point in my life, and it feels strange and uncomfortable: I am current on all episodes of Lost. Now I'm just stuck! Until next year! It's so mean! And after I finished the season 4 finale I became That Girl for awhile and googled the show. This is what I found (*spoiler alert*):

Hey, Bergendi--

So... we've been meaning to let you know that we're ending the show after the sixth season. Yeah, just like that. Oh, and the reason season 4 went by so quickly for you was because it was about seven episodes shorter than the other seasons. Sorry about that, I know it really bugged you. (The next two seasons are going to be short like that, too.) But thanks for all your support, especially sitting through the same three commercials that play over and over and over when you watch it on abc.com.

And, yeah, we killed Locke, can you believe it? We aren't really even writing the show anymore, we're just kind of rubbing everybody out. Except Jack. We're just going to keep making his future-self uglier and more depressed to make you not want him anymore.

XOXO
JJ Abrams and the rest of the Lost gang

On a brighter note: Did anyone catch the men's 4x100m free relay last night? Because it was amazing.

AmazeMint...?

I bought this.

And so far, I like it.

Wednesday, August 06, 2008

I've had the same song in my head for almost one day.

For some time, I've been hearing about two bunnies that allegedly live in the bushes outside of ICON. However, I'd never seen them. Well, i think the brown one felt bad about this, because guess who was waiting for me in front of my car today...

He was chewing on some lawn, and didn't totally love it when I got close. I did manage to get this portrait, despite his aversion to paparazzi.

How wrong would it be to pirate this?

(Answer:
Very.

Kind of.

No. Yes. Very.)

Will the real C.H.S. please stand up?

This weekend my family went to Crystal Hot Springs. I'll tell you this: viewing their website now, I can say that it is enticing and misleading. I'm under the impression that little has been done to maintain this "natural wonder." (Their words.) Which is really too bad, because I think it actually could be really cool. Hey guys, how about starting out with extracting the flesh-eating bacteria that has infiltrated, well, everything?

Sometimes Ozzy does this when you talk to him.

So does Devin.

Brody, looking like a homeless person.

I'm thinking of just leaving this tangerine on my desk, for decoration.

For me, scrapbooking alone is a formidable task. (Scrapbooking alone. Not me scrapbooking alone.) When I'm asked to do this, at my job, and to cover memories that are older than I am, it makes me die a little inside. And I haven't used a scanner since about Y2K.

I had another dream that I was pregnant. Apparently immaculate conception is on my subconscious list of things to do.

Devin insisted on riding his bike home at midnight thirty last night. Am I going to have buy the kid some reflectors?

Today I did way too much research about cookies. I'm still determined to make the best chocolate chip cookies (not unlike Monica in that episode of Friends).

Reason enough.

I still love Seinfeld.

Today I found myself in an empty stairwell with the CEO/founder of the place at which I am employed. We were going opposite directions, and for at least seven steps I was convinced he was staring at my chest. Awkward. When we were next to each other he finally said, "what does your shirt say?" I looked down and mumbled that I wasn't really sure, probably just a brand shout-out or something. It was really hard to read upside down. (see shirt here.) "Okay," he said while continuing up the stairs. Double whammy: I dream-scored this person (man. old man.) the night before last. gah. In a La-Z-Boy, no less. And the lighting was bad. I haven't had a dream score that bad since Steve Martin's appearance in '05.

New phone's vocabulary isn't anything to write home about. It doesn't even know "internet." Or "intense." And it can't learn words, either, which blows. I feel that my tendency to send text messages is slipping away.

Tonight I am finally going to see the new, sinister Batman movie. Guess who can't wait. This girl.

Things I Feel Like Doing vs. Things I Need to Do

Go to Borders to spend vast amounts of money.

Get my business(es) going. For real this time.

Get something pierced.

Take a trip. (Spain?)

Relocate.

vs.

Register my car already. Have two tickets in the past three years taught me nothing?

Clean said car.

Get my portfolio in check.

Start cooking.

Find my debit card.

?

Why does the celebrity rehab special on VH1 keep playing Keane?

Monday, June 30, 2008

I really love having new things.

I gave in and made this non-purchase:

I call it a non-purchase because Verizon was kind enough to send me a text message some days ago telling me that I qualify for the same discounts as new customers. (And I really love it. I've decided to do something I've yet to do, which is invest in a case [holster?] for any of my cellular phones.)  So as I was perusing a Best Buy ad I saw that some quite wonderful sales were about to end. $0. So.

I freaked out a little today when I realized that tomorrow is July.

Tuesday, June 24, 2008

when did I become so cavalier?

I made an amazing mix. That's all you need to know for now.
