I really love having new things.

I gave in and made this non-purchase:

I call it a non-purchase because Verizon was kind enough to send me a text message some days ago telling me that I qualify for the same discounts as new customers. (And I really love it. I've decided to do something I've yet to do, which is invest in a case [holster?] for any of my cellular phones.)  So as I was perusing a Best Buy ad I saw that some quite wonderful sales were about to end. $0. So.

I freaked out a little today when I realized that tomorrow is July.

when did I become so cavalier?

I made an amazing mix. That's all you need to know for now.

Universe, you've done it a-gain.

So today I sent in my rebate for the RAM I ordered a while back (why am I so bad at rebates?). Anyway, it went to this place called White Bear Lake in Minnesota, and when I was writing that on the envelope I thought, "what an unusual, distinctive-sounding place." Just now I googled a person I work with who is here maybe 10% of the time. Just because I was curious. So it came up and there was a link with said person from where? White Bear Lake, Minnesota. Freaky... and RIGHT AS I WAS BEING FREAKED OUT BY IT the person I was googling walked in! The story doesn't sound as weird as it actually is. Weird.

And then my entire day was thrown off.

My special welcome back to work went like this: going in at 9am and leaving at 5am. Yeah. But I slept most of the day and awoke only when I thought my bed was at a 45 degree angle and I was about to fall off of it. It wasn't. Staying late isn't too bad after a certain time. I'm going to say ten, maybe eleven. After that, I was all for volunteering to stay all the way because a: my night was already shot anyway, and b: it's so lax and that's when all the chocolate comes out. (And some shady night workers. Other than that, smooth sailing.)

This was a very bad wedding day surprise:

On the way to the temple, Gina and I were playing 20 Questions and decided to try to do something that has to do with weddings. We chose veil. 20 Questions, however, did not.

As it turned out, Gin and I are not great at San Diego. We got reprimanded by some jaded shopkeepers more than once and couldn't totally figure out the transit system. But we still had so much fun (at least I did... Gin? Gina?)

Jenny looked gorgeous! It was a sad day, because you know, end of an era. Everything was perfect, however. I have a little bit of a feeling the pictures will be amazing... (not the ones I am posting. But they are amazing.)

"Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means 'a whale's vagina'."

That's right, I am going to San Diego! Tomorrow! Jenny is officially selling out and getting married.

I saw Blood Diamond this weekend, and let me tell you, basically every problem I could possibly conjure up that is happening in my life dissolved. My life is cake. Blood diamonds! How is this even happening? I know, thinking this is so 2006, but I didn't see the movie until now! I've been doing some research today. Isn't it a diamond retailer/consumer's social responsibility (among other things) to investigate this sort of thing? To find out the source? I guess it's shady because all the conflict diamonds get mixed in with the clean ones. It makes me so sad. But happy that so much has been done about it over the last few years (there are now less than 1% in circulation). I said that I don't even want a diamond anymore immediately after watching it (maybe a little impetuous...?) and Devin too-quickly replied, "yeah, I definitely wouldn't either. Not at all." You aren't fooling anyone, man.

My headphone jack broke off in my Mac. (I'm not a Mac snob. Untrue. I am. And I'm not sorry.) I discovered this when I bought new non-crappy headphones and they didn't fit. (Here's how smart I am: my immediate thought was: oh no! I got the wrong size!) Anyway, I've been fishing a paperclip in there for a couple of weeks now with no luck. I've still been able to use the crappy headphones, at least.

Mondays are no good.

p.s.

There are these two men I work with, and whenever I hear one talking I always think it's the other one. There is nothing similar about them at all except for their voices. They're exactly the same! Anyway, today I finally overheard them talking to each other. It was wayyyy trippy.

I love Friday.

The computer is great. We named him Oskar3000. He got a little pissed at me when I tried to install the RAM but after that everything went smoothly.

I couldn't have been happier to see the Laker's lose last night. I pretty much nothing the other team (who is it? Boston?), but I have no patience for the Laker's.

I find that my thoughts are becoming more and more cliché these days.

New room isn't working out. I keep sleeping in. I need my old, big window that wakes me up at like seven-thirty. And like, I would actually want to get up. Seriously! In the past week I've created a pattern of waking up [annoyed] anywhere from 8:30-9:00. No bueno. Maybe I should start sleeping outside.

Today Is The Day

I brought such a manly meal for lunch today. Campell's Chunky Steak and Potato Soup. When my boss saw the can it made him say, "bless your heart." Gah.

My computer is here today! FedEx was kind enough to email me and let me know. I really hope it doesn't suck.

* * * *

On this day a year ago it was a Monday. And it was very sunny outside. And I went to Lee's on my lunch break to get some things, I think a pink lady apple and maybe a bagel? And an Odwalla bar. I remember that one for sure. Banana Nut.

As I was leaving I saw my brother in a car full of boys. He gave me a little shout out and they drove off. Later he called me with information of how he was setting me up with one of his friends from work. And I laughed, because he's such an idiot. But he relented and gave me dude's number anyway.

That night, at maybe 9:30 or so I was trying to edit some pants (why can't I think of the real word for that? I've been computing for too long I think) when my brother called me to see if I'd called the guy, or something like that. He proceeded to tell me how he's, like, the funniest guy. And he'd been thinking about it, and he was sure that we'd get along. So I texted him. And he promptly replied and wanted to take me out to "get an ice cream". And I thought, that's funny, I'm intrigued, so I totally agreed. A while later, he called (actually, he'd been calling for a while because he was lost, but my phone was silenced and accidentally thrown in a pile of my laundry) to say he was almost to my house.

So I went out the door as he was coming up to the door and saw this really cute, skinny, tall (borderline awkward, which I like) blondey boy wearing a surfer t-shirt. Not at all what I expected. I mean, I just didn't think my bro and I had the same taste in men! hah. I was wrong.

We ended up having the funnest night of getting ice cream, going to a creepy park, playing guitar (he is amazing! I am not.) and talking. He was so funny and cute and nice.

Yes, a year ago today I met Devin. There is so much I could say about him and what he has meant to me over the past year but at the same time, there aren't enough words. I love him so much, and he's my best friend. He just... makes sense to me.

(note: luckily the soup ended up being more potato than steak.)
